“How to Get Ahead in the Age of AI”
Intro
Hello! As this is the first post, I will quickly introduce myself. My name is Justin and I am a web developer with years of experience. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s establish why we are here.
I. Who?
How do you know, that I know, what I know?
Can AI replace web developers? I recently completed the book, “How to get Ahead in the Age of AI” to gain clarity on just this specific question. We know with certainty, anyone can prompt AI software to write code and develop applications. Nevertheless, at current writing there seem to be thousands of software jobs and digital freelance tasks available to anyone that can convince who is hiring.
Prior to working in enterprise I had the opportunity to use a number of platforms. WordPress, MindBody, Shopify, and MySql are just a few of the tools I used when I was self-employed. Now that I work as a contractor for the government, I spend my work days as an Appian (APP-ee-ANN) developer. What is Appian? It is a low code, no code software development platform that is popular with government services and large companies. No worries if you have never heard of it, think Salesforce or Pega if you are familiar with them.
“If Appian is so great, why blog and create apps on AWS?” That is a great question. Appian is a great option if your company has the users and investment, but not practical for the general user. Which brings us here.
